hum.. I don't think there was.. In 97 I belive they where still EXT's... Then in 98 the ZL came out.. Even then I belive only the ZR had the 700 twin... *If it is a 97 ZL is might be either modified, or a late version Verson that came out.. are you looking to buy this sled?? Cause check the number on the side. it just could have been made in 97 which means it's probly a 98. My sled is a 00, but it says made in 99. Find a picture of 98 and look at it.. the hoods are differnt. So if you go to look at this sled, just see what it looks like.

if you want to know if there was a model in a year check kbb.com that would tell you what they were for that year and the cc's of the sled

there is no such thing as a 97 ZL 700, 97 was the first year for the ZL but it was a 440 the last year for the 700 was 96 then returned in 99 and 2000 as a ZL and ZR and powder special
are you sure it is in a 97 or older ZR/Z/ZR chassis or is it in the newer 98-99 ZR and 98-00 ZL chassis because all the 700 motors in the 97 and older ZR chassis came with factory twin pipes and i assume since your looking for a set of twin pipes that you have a singe pipe on it right now all the 700's in the 99's and 2000 came with single pipes and if you have a 99 and 2000 700 you dont want to put twin pipes from a 96 and older 700 motor because cat made a lot of changes to the 700 motor to make it run with a single pipe and would not work with the older 96 and earlier twin pipes you would need to look for twin pipes for the newer 99-00 700's
if i had some more details i could tell you more any questions ask me

The last year for a twin piped 700 was the '96 Wildcat. *The 700 single piped appeared in the '99 ZR and Powder Special but didn't make it into the ZL chassis until '00.
Yes, the only ZL offered in '97 was the LQ440.
