I am having an intermintent problem on my 2000 MXZ600 after starting my sled. It starts great, idles fine but sometimes when I give it gas it just boggs out. When I ran it the other day it ran fine after the initail start & warm up. I drove it for about 10 minutes stopped for gas, started right up, Gave it gas to get going & it bogged down (not even enough to move the sled). When I let off the gas it goes right back to a good idle. I shut it down & restarted & everything seemed fine. Rode about an hour, shut it down and it did the same thing again. This time shutting it off did not fix the problem & I had to get towed . A half hour later I started it back up, let it idle for 2-3 minutes & it ran great. I just cleaned the Raves. Could this have anything to do with it? Any ideas where to start looking?

I have this problem at the initial start up and sometimes i have to restart it 1once or twice, I have found instead of reving the motor when you first start it up just let it rev down to 12 or 1300 rpm's then rev it once or twice and sled away.

Have you checked/cleaned the carbs? That would be the second place I'd be looking (new spark plugs first). We had a 99 MXZ 600 with an intermittent starting problem, turned out to be the impulse line on the fuel pump was clogged. Have a look, cheap fix

I've read about the impulse line, it comes off the crank & goes to the gas pump, right? Where can I get info on cleaning the carbs and what the screw settings should be? Thanks for your help, much appreciated>

Tracked the problem back to my DESS key. I was reading the forum on SW the other night and someone was saying that any DESS key can start any sled but they there is a RPM limiter so if you do not have the right programed key it will only rev to 3000 rpms. Right before I started stripping down the sled I remembered that so I called Keene Motor Sport service and asked the guy if this was true & if it could be my problem, He confirmed, I checked my key and it was all dirty inside and there is a little metal cross shaped piece that was floating around and should be glued down in the center. Have to bring the sled to the dealer, pay $29 for a new key & $10 for them to program it.
