Ok, I got two possible sleds to buy... lookin at 2 of them.. a 600 vs 800 XCSP edge....
What do you guys recommend...
I heard from a few people that because the 800 weighs 20 pounds more it is more difficult to handle on teh trails.... how much truth is there to this? Do you really notice the difference?
I know an 800 can't feel as heavy as my 600 triple Vmax....
i'm looking to hear some good honest input... please help
Jason

Both Sleds are almost identical in shape and mileage......
500 miles on each,
My question is more based generally speaking a new 800 vs a new 600... what would you recommend, pros and cons

I'm a bigger guy, been riding for a long time. The big blocks are the only way to go from where I'm sitting. If I were smaller, had less experience, or both, the 600 would be more interesting. Spend a lot of time on 2 sleds. Fairly stock '02 XC8X and an '00 XCR that's had a 136" Edge suspension installed under it. I think the biggest difference between them is when they are in the air - off a jump or in the big whoops. The lighter machine is MUCH easier handled and less tiring. FWIW

If your not worried to much about top end speed go with the 600. That 600 will keep up with an 800 till around 60-70 mph. The 20 lbs is not a factor for an average rider.

Don't know what year these 2 sleds are but a very small percentage of the 800s had some crank problems but as to the VES a know alot of riders with these sleds and there was an update on the early VES valves. But if you keep the valves clean like the manual tells you to, and use GOOD oil, theres not anymore problems with the 800s than with any other motors either from Polaris or Ski-Doo or Cat! I put 3178 hard miles on my 03 800 just last Winter and have never done a thing to it except new plugs in the Spring along with 1 new belt and I religuosly clean the valves every 1000 miles. As for a 600 keeping up to an 800 up to 70 mph-sure haven't seen a 600 that can stay with with my 800 at all!!!!!! My riding partner has an 05 600Xc and its a great sled but hes at the end of the pack going across a lake!!!!

I put on over 5,000 miles on my 01 800 that was supposed to be notorious for crank problems and never had any probs. Yes, there were some VES problems, but you can buy sturdier valves that should eliminate any probs.
I'm partial to the 800, but either sled will work great.

I have an '02 700 that is a different animal than my '05 600. Mostly tourque and top end differences power wise. Handling is different yet. I have the '02 set up for real rowdy riding and the 600 is all oem. On long rides I like the 6. I'm not tiny either. 235 all ready to go.
