ive heard alot about bombardier having a problem with there belts. last year alot of guys were blowing belts on there new revs like crazy and this year i blew on on my sled but the only thing that went wrong was the cords came out the side other then that the belt looks brand new. i was curious if anyone else had this problem and if so how they went about returning it to get re embursed because now this year the dealer will send them away to get analized but wont just exchange it for a new belt. thanks scott

never heard a thing, i have heard though that the REV clutch area could use a little more ventilation to keep the clutches cool and that might be the problem.

No issues here. I've been getting 5000km's to a belt the last few years with the factory belts. I have seen the issue you mention about the cords coming out. My friends ZX 800's would have the belts do that quite often.

Have concerns with my 06, less than 200 kilometers and there is a ton of belt dust, way beyond normal. Keeping a close eye on it.

I've smoked 2 in only 2500 miles so far on my o5 Rev. I smoked 1 in about 10,000 miles on the old zx. Every time they blow they're hotter than $h#t.

If you want to run you belt cooler be sure to take off the black plastic clutch cover. This make a huge difference on your belt temp, all you have to do is drill out the rivets and just reinstall it like the old stlye covers. You can also take off your windage plates on your secondary, this exposed the fins on the clutch to the air and creates a little wind turbulance which also keeps the belt cooler.

I have also seen this. My friends Dad has a 2000 Grand Touring 500 he put 2 belts through it in one week same thing as you described. He now runs Ultimax 3 with no probs.

hmm maybe ill have to get rid of that huge cover on my sled to cool it off more. i ran into 3 guys last year and one guy went thru 3 belts and the other 2 guys went thru 2 belts in a few months. When they brought there blown belts back the dealer, they looked at the number on the belt and rembursed them a new belt. thats why i was curious if anyone had heard anything about it, because now i have to send the belt to bombardier to get them to analize it to see what happened and if it was one of the fault belts. which im sure i will know the answer i will get. Another guy told me bombardier had a problem with there USA made belts but the ones in Austria. But who's to say thats the truth.
