ok, i got the flywheel and the magneto off, removed the stator bolts but the connectors on the ends of the wiring harness look to big to fit thru the hole in the housing. seems to me when i installed the rebuilt engine last year, they went thru? do i need to remove the trigger coil first to get the stator out or will the connectors on the stator fit thru the hole with the trigger coil installed. ? engine is still installed in sled so it is hard to tell all this.

Yes, remove trigger coil, it is easier to get wires through. Also remove the rubbe grommet, it just pops in and out of the case anyway.

thanks i will give it a try tonight.
how would one tell if the seal was damaged when the recoil exploded in there? don't see any major damage to the case, but not sure how to check the seal
