Well, I finally picked up the new sled, on christmas day! Stats: 2007 600 HO cfi. Absolutely awsome sled, I bought it and didnt even know how many features this thing has. Now of course there is no snow to ride on. This is driving me nuts, all I can do is look at it and hope that it snows soon. It will definatly take some getting use to riding it though, after having the 95 xcr 600 for 6 years I actually became quite partial to that sled. But it was time for an improvement. A 30 HP and completely different suspension improvement. After reading the reviews that the HO cfi got I just couldnt pass up on getting one.
Come on snow!!!

You will love it for sure. The XCR is obviously no comparison.
I went from having a 95 XCR to the new IQ too, but with 7000miles on an 03 Edge in between, and after your first ride on the new IQ you'll wonder how you ever managed to ride the old XCR.
I still have my XCR, with lofty dream of making it live again, but I would never want to spend a whole winter riding it again.
When you get a chance to try your new one out I'd love to hear what kind of fuel milage you're getting. I was really looking forward to the CFI resulting in better fuel milage, but so far I'm only doing about 10 mpg. No better then my SKS800.

From what I have heard the 600 cfi should expect somewhere around 13-15 mpg. But that I will have to see. Remember though, that you are riding the dragon. Which is rated at around 140 HP, and a hefty load more tourqe than the 600. Tourqe and HP definatly mean more fuel. I am sure you know that to get more power all that is needed is to burn MORE fuel with LESS waste, but like I say, I am sure you know that and I dont need to get into that topic, but with the 600 HO it is the most powerful 600 motor coming out of a warehouse at this time. So I cant expect to get the best milage when comparing to lower power models. My guess is that the extra 5 HP from the carbed model to the CFI will more than likely wash out most of the MPG gains that one could find. Not to mention the fact that I know Polaris is running these things on the rich side to ensure reliablility. I know my stuff about EFI better than I know my own girlfriend, So hopefully at some point I can hook up some fuel control device to this beast and see what real potential it could have. Almost guaruntee that there could be pretty big gains to be had, and much better fuel milage. But for the next several years it will remain stock, or very near stock.
Oh yeah, I have some pictures of it, well... crappy pictures. How do you guys link up pictures on here?

Actually I was hoping for better feul milage because Polaris said these things should get the same milage as the Ski-Doo SDI's, and in fact they're not set up rich, but fairly lean to get lower exhaust emissions.
Your CFI should certainly get beter milage then a regular HO, yes it makes 5 more horses, but the theory is that the more efficient fuel metering means less waste, so more power with less feul.

For what it's worth my carb'd 600 gets 10 mpg with stock jetting. I went down a main jet size and that was worth 1 mpg.
Also - doesn't ski doo SDI automatically keep the ignition timing somewhat retarded for the first 500 miles for break in? Does Polaris do the same? If this is the case Newfie your mileage should get better when you get some rounds on it.

Running a motor lean does not mean better emissions. In fact running lean often times gives worse emissions that running rich. At one end of they spectrum you get the certain harmful gasses and on the other side you get the other combustion byproducts. Dont ask for exact names of the gasses, I always get them confused. The stoichiometric A/F ratio creates the nearest to perfect emissions. And many people dont understand that stoich is NOT the perfect ratio for a motor to run at. Obviously when opening the throttle your going to need a much higher concentration of fuel make the power you are looking for when opening the throttle and to help keep cyl. temps down. Which does creat more rich mixture emissions. But on the other side is decelleration, where fuel mixtures should be on the lean side, creating lean emissions. Fortunatly most emissions tests are usually only strict about the cruise mixtures, which should be around stoich 14.7:1.
So anyway, my guess is that Polaris may have left somthing out of this system. It almost sounds like they dont have a decelleration map which cuts the ratios to way lean on decel. Which can have a larger effect on milage than people think. And I am also guessing that the SDI may have somthing along the lines of a decel map.

I was told I would notice better mileage once my sled was broke in, but I figured this was primarily because during the break-in period you burn more oil by putting oil in the tank, which the injectors don't take into account. Anyway, my 900 Fusion gets between 14-16mpg depending on the temp and conditions. I would assume the new 600 would get better than that again.

Well if your getting that good on the 900 then just maybe I could be somewhere around that. If I can get 14-16 the savings on gas would almost pay for 1/4 of the sled by the time I am done with it.
Attatched are a couple of other pictures of the sled, my dad and brothers rev's, and some misc. pics of the garrage and cars.
