Just wondering , since my new to me sled is so old you guys have already seen it. I'm wondering what to hook my heated visor wires to. I have a '94 Mach 1 670, without electric start. What colour wire is constant power in the heated grip plug. I see yellow, yelow/black, orange , and orange/violet. Or should I look to another power source? Thanks Greg.

Hunter,
You may want to consider running the wiring to the guage lights, this way you have constant power to the visor. If you run it to the grips and turn them off, the visor will not operate either.

I was thinking about that too, I guess i'll make the journey down the wire harness today from a gauge light. Happy no riding new year. Freezing rain here all last night and 9 degrees C. today. Looking at my nice green lawn still in central Ontario. I think I'm calling in to work sick for the next few weeks to trailer to Colorado or something to go for a ride.

don't do that. look for an unused open connector and with a wire tester check to see if there is power there. you'll need the sled running at that time too.

I've hooked them up to the taillight wire. It is always on when the sled is. and it is strong

why would you break into a circuit used for something already when there are unused open ones available?

The reason i suggested the guage lights is because on my 88 formula i dont know of any unused circuts on this sled. I figure if i run my wires off the guage lights, they are always on. I really wouldnt have this problem if i could get my wife to give me modular helmet back.

Not sure if your 94 Mach would have this but look for a grey T-shaped connector under the right side of your console, (By console, we mean the plastic panel around your fuel filler neck that goes around your steering post. Not the dash or instrument cluster.) just to the right of your steering post behind your oil tank. That plug is specifically for the heated shield connector. I know the 95 Skidoos had it. It'll have 1 yellow and 1 yellow/black wire running into it. This way you don't have wires running all over under your hood rubbing on things that'll cause huge headaches when you're miles from anywhere. I agree, DEFINITELY DON'T SPLICE INTO ANOTHER WIRE when you don't have to.
Make sure you plug both wires from your plug into both sides of that T-connector. Don't hook one to ground. Your sled has an AC electrical system, not DC like your car.
Skidoo makes an expensive but very functional plug kit that you can install in your console by drilling a 1/4" - 5/16" hole.
It's a little on the pricey side but it keeps things looking stock.
Otherwise run your plug wires up beside the steering post under the handlebar pad and have the plug hanging out the end when you're using it and tuck it just inside the pad when you're not.
Let us know how you made out.
Jeff
