hi anybody ever heard of tork arms on a sled piece of metal plate bolted to clutch side with a rubber to stop the engine from torking back supposed to give it more snap i never heard of it reading it on line the other night.?????

An aftermarket torque arm generally one end fastens to the front of the motor on the PTO side. The other end fastens to the chassis forward of the motor. The one you sound like you might be describing is a factory part installed on the chassis in back of the motor.

will it make a big difference putting a tork arm on. will it be hard on the crank?? does it give it better trottle reponse.

Most guys do it on the big blocks (700/800) engines because they have a nasty habit of pulling the motor mounts apart. Other than that, they would certainly help hold the belt in alignment.

awesome idea. it sounds like the same idea as limiter chaains on a muscle car engine. where do i find one and do they make them for my old trail? it might help save the belt, eh?

here you go gentlemen:
Damper Style Torque Link(Reference #900-552)
For Polaris Indy Models (except Storm, Ultra, XCR 600 SP, Lites, Domestic Twins and XCR 700/800 Triples). Built in cushion design to reduce vibration transmitted to chassis. Holds engine securely to eliminate misalignment under acceleration. Clutch alignment stays true and clutch performance is more consistant. Torque link is adjustable to take out free play.

the torque link is basically a device that attaches to the front of the crankcase, just ahead of the pto side, to the two bolts that are there for the starter. this exact one is for the 'indy' style polaris'. it will help to limit engine movement up and back caused by torque. what this does is keeps the belts in better alignment which will increase belt life and in some cases will make better performance due to the clutches working more efficiently. any more info, please ask! -polaris doc

hi i checked out that site hiperf.com they say that that torque arm is just for racing and could be hard on the engine if used all the time???

well, if that's what they said, then they might know more than me. however, how exactly is it hard on the engine? sure you're pulling on the front part of the engine, but the bottom of the cases is bolted solidly as well so i dont see the problem. if you go with a solid mount without the damper like this one has, then i would agree that it could cause some harmonic problems. i run a similar style like this on my sled, one i built, and i haven't seen any problems. what sled do you want to run this on? you really dont need anything like this unless you have clutch alignment issues; in which you probably have bad engine mounts or the rubber is worn out. you will notice more vibration in your handlebars especially if you put this product on, but not as much as a solid link. take it for what its worth. you have to give a little here, to get a litte there. if you have a higher hp sled, then run it. if not, then i'd spend my $$ elsewhere. -Polaris Doc

I got 1 on my 2002 xcsp 800 and i see a big difference alot less slippage and less belt breakage. When you put 1 on have the clutch alignment right after u install before ride and check alignment after first ride too. i got mine from hiperf.com
