hey my dad has a 2000 touring 500 fan and from the day we bought it we have had problems with the lighting system. Some times the lights will work then turn off as fast as they come on.We have already changed the stater plate and never made a differance. So if you have any ideas of what it is please let me know thanks.

Check the bright/dim switch as well as the wiring and connecter plug that it ties into the main harness

Also carefully check the wire under the seat that runs to the back light for chaffes and corrosion. Make sure the voltage regulator wires are clean and the ground is tight. For that matter make sure all ground points are clean and tight and don't overlook the battery terminals as well ( If equipped )
