Hey all, while out riding my 85 Formula MX (467) I looked down and noticed the red light on the dash flickering (wasnt steady at all). I have always though this to be an oil-level light? I check both the oils and the big one was at about half (plan to fill it and see but thought I would ask), the other (rotary valve oil I believe, small) was full. Any ideas? The sled runs great all the time and I have no problems.

Start the sled up & squeeze the brake handle. Does the light come on then? If yes, you're OK. This was a feature 'doo had to let you know if the oil level light wasn't burnt out.

The oil level may have been low enough that when you went over bumps, the oil level sender thought the reservoir was low.

Yup, light comes on when the break comes on. I imagine thats whats happening since the tank was only half full and it looks like the sensor is quite high up.

Does this small jug just get filled with 2 stroke injection oil? Just Curious....

I think Skidoo makes an oil for it, my dad however just told me to fill it with 2stroke injector oil.

RV lube reservoir runs injector oil. In later RV powered sleds, 'doo eliminated the small reservoir & ran the line to the main injector oil tank. A good reason to keep it topped up, no chance in sucking air into the RV shaft area.

Is it possible that your brake light switch needs to be adjusted? If your brake handle is bouncing the switch on and off this would cause the light to flicker on and off. Did you ever get your carb issue worked out?
