When the news first came out about this tainted food, I immediately checked out if the cat food I had been giving them was on the list. Thankfully Purina brand friskies cat food is not. I have been giving my cats this since we have had them. I know that 2 cat's in our county are ill with kidney failure and suspected to have eaten some of the recall food.
It's very sad and I fear we are going to hear more about animals getting sick. I hope they find the cause and take care of this problem quick. It's kind of scary to think the worst ,but suspision is highthat this was a deliberate act, imo.

Someone is most likely going to be sued or prosecuted.. Problem is, who? Someone or somehow rat poison got into this food. Could go back to the farmers who grow the wheat. (or people who work getting the wheat to the manufacturer. I don't know, but I sure hope they figure it out soon. I just can't stand to think of animals suffering.

We checked our cat food and YES we did have some canned food of one of the brands. We didn't even bother to check the date. In the garbage it went. I can relate to the Dog thing Rick, same reason we dont have another one.

I hope your cat will be ok Perm..
On the dog note, I too, can relate. In fact, the dog you see in my avatar was the last dog I owned. His name was Henry and he was my baby. He actually fell through some ice near a spring on a pond and drowned. I was completely devastated for weeks and I just can't bring myself to get so attatched to a dog because the pain was horrific.

Luckily, we didn't have any of the tainted food. We also used the Friskies for the cats when they get canned food. Our animals, for the most part, eat a good quality dry food. The cats only get a little canned food a couple times a week for a treat since they both drink plenty of water. My big Snowshoe already has urinary problems and the magnesium in the canned food irritates it. Maybe it was a blessing that he has that problem and we never fed the canned stuff. My dog is on dried food only with the occasional table scraps thrown in plus sticks form the yard, of course.
