XC SP 600 VES, Is there a way to adjust the oil injection and how do you know you would be getting enough? I just put on 120 miles and went through a gallon of Amsoil interceptor and leaving a cloud of smoke behind me while burning everyones eyes behind me.
First off, you need to ask your self if the engine is running well (considering that amount of oil in the mix) or whether you are staying deep into the throttle to make it perform the way it should.
That said, even with the throttle pegged all the way, I think it should be pretty hard to make a gallon of oil go through the pump in that few miles - it's about 4X too much. Assuming the pump is okay- because they are pretty simple and foolproof- I would adjust the thing down - adjust the cable down toward the pump so that the throttle doesn't begin to pull the pump lever before it moves the carb slides. There are reference marks on the pump and pump lever that should get you started on where the lever should be at idle and at WOT.
Yeah, check the alignment marks on the oiler. On most Polaris it's supposed to be calibrated at idle. The idle mark should line up with the pump alignment mark when you are not touching the throttle. I don't see how it could be set to over-oil that much. Possibly you have the wrong throttle cable installed. I've heard the pump can go bad and rather than cut off your oil, it just dumps oil like crazy. No personal experience with this, but really what else could it be?
I agree. Assuming it seems to be running correctly, check to see if it's adjusted properly, then replace the pump.

Check the marks on the pump and the oil injection lever should line up at idle like they said, never seen them go to the rich side unless it has a wrong cable or like Newfie said a hose might be leaking. Found alot of times they are on the lean side because of the cable streching or coming out of adjustment.
I took the carbs off to get a good look to see what was going on and found someone had adjusted it almost all the way out, to line the marks up I had to move the 2 nuts almost 3/4 of an inch back, runs a hole lot better now and we went for a 145 mile trip yesterday and used about a 3rd of the tank, now if I could only get my gas mileage a little better.... about 9 miles to the gallon. That's great that you found your problem.
As for the gas milage, if you can figure out how to make it better, let me know. There's really only one thing that I don't like about my sled, and only one reason I would consider switching to another brand, and that's feul milage.
