Default 96 indy trail

i have a 96 indy trail, it ran fine all last year and this year im having problems. the only way it will even attempt to run is when i take plugs out and squirt gas into holes and replace them, then it will run for maybe 3 secs? is this the carbs and if so how do i fix the issue as the last time ive worked on carbs i was 10?
