Default 10 tooth drivers

What are the addvantages of running a 10 tooth driver in an edge with an 800 xcr OR dissaddvantages.

the only dis-advantage i can see is if you wanted to run a track with longer lugs,that being said the advantages or good,
- the track will run more efficient,especially better if you where to install larger idler wheels on the back of the skid,i.e. the track is rubber like the drive belt and we loose effeciency at higher speeds from turning around a smaller circumference,remember 1 to 1 is the best ratio,after that we loose effeciency big time
-you should have a little better top end with the existing gear ratio,try,test and see where you can take advantage of the drivers,you may have to adjust the clutches,remember your ten speed bicycle when you shifted from 5 speed to ten speed and it was harder to pedal but the speed gain was apparent,your legs where the engine
-when you see what the clutches are doing,try a different gear ratio
the best thing from this is that it puts you on the snow to tune your sled

Loosetrack,
Thank you for your reply.One more question. Can I use 7 1/8 idlers in the rear instread of 8's? Also if I do use larger idlers should I go to longer trak like a 128 " instead of the 121? Is there an "overdrive" effect by useing the 10 tooth drivers? At this time I have chosen a 195:1 (21/41) 74P gearing with hopes that at 1:1 I have an overdrive effect. I appreciate all the help you have given me and hope this will help others possibly wanting to do the same thing or for someone that may have not thought of this idea.

21/41 is a 1.95 gear ratio which should be good,but test this for your application,i generally run the biggest gear available on the bottom and use the shortest chain that will fit,using a short chain elliminates the curve naturally put in it when you tighten the chain tensioner,the idea is to keep the chain as straight as possible and use the tensioner as little as possible,and finger tight only.as for the rear wheel,i run 10" idlers and to ward off exsessive wear on the hi-fax,i run graphite hi-fax and a couple extra wheels made of carbon fibre from nextech here in edmonton alberta,expensive,very much so,but very little weight added to the sled versus oem wheels which tend to run 3x the weight per wheel,
*very important*
before you do this driver change,you must consider
-what drivers are you going to instal,regular oem or intravert extravert
-if intravert extravert do you have to cut the tips off of the rails for clearance
-if so,you will have to install an anti-stab kit or you will ruin your very expensive track on the very first bump,remember the artic cat issue when the tip protectors fell off,more than one friend lost his track
