Fogging Oil down cylinders of 2012 Rush is it necessary?

Hi There,

I have a 2012 Polaris Rush. For the last 12 years with my XCR, every spring I would stabilize the gas, grease the nipples, and spray fogging oil down the cylinders and store under a cover inside my garage. On my 2012 it is a real pain to get at the cylinders which made me wonder, if I am storing under a cover in my garage all summer do I really need to spray oil down the cylinders? Can they rust and seize up if stored indoors?

The fogging oil is really sticky and will stick to all the crank bearings and wrist pins, as well as coating the case and cylinders.

The problem is humidity; the engine case is not air tight. So in a normal day, air enters the engine and leaves the engine depending on temperature. Air that enters that is warm and then cools will lose it's water vapor and form condensation on the inside of the engine. The higher the humidity, the more of a problem this is.

I would think inside a garage would minimize the amount of condensation. I would consider running the sled about once a month to ensure the normal oil has not completely drained off the bearings and crank, just as insurance. Besides, that gives you a chance to get your 2-stroke fix

I store mine inside,,I just put in gas stabilizer and start(every three monthes) or pull it over once a month.
(you can get moisture wicking replacement plugs if you want)
35 years no problems, though it's not that humid here.

I leave my lawn mower in the snow bank all winter,and just pull it over once a month with out any problems either(10yrs starts first pull) so unless you plan on keeping it for twenty five yrs I'm sure it would be fine.

fogging is good but as an alternative i use fitch fuel catalysts in all my sleds and quad, start them all once a month to get fresh fuel in the carbs,let the engine warm up to operating temperature and turn them off. i've used fitch for quite some time now and have yet to see any issues in the carbs. for the first couple years i took the carbs off to see if they needed a cleaning,now i just trust the fitch,they are expensive,but they work. as BCDan says,i get my 2 stroke fix
