Man I got the death sentence call today from my dealer. What I thought was originaly just a blown intake boot has become the death of my motor. When my tech pulled my drive clutch my spring was broke. Then he realized the recoil spring was broke. Thinking on the positive side I hoped it was just a intake boot blown out. Well turns out the boot was blown out, the pistons were severely burnt so I was still hoping I would get away with just top end. Nope, turns out a piece of my cylinder broke off, causing mild crank damage but blew two holes in the bottom of the case. Pretty much the motor is a waste. Are there any options other than a Oem 800 cfi4? I know I can buy a used one but I mean aftermarket. The 1100 from brad is probably outa my wallet capacity. Anyone know of a smoking deal on a cfi4 or got a different idea.
Well you don't have any cheap options. But this doesn't surprise me that happened the 800 cfi doesn't have a long enough rod so it gets a lot of piston slap. But if you rebuild yours I recommend doing the rod lengthing kit. It will give you the cylinder spacers new pistons and new rods to stop that from happening again. But I bet you will be into it about 2000 by the time your done.
