Are there anyone here who have a ZR 700 engine easily accessible and can take a few measurements for me? The measurements I need are the ones on the attached picture.
The reason for asking is that I'm building a frame for a motorcycle and I changed my mind about the engine choice. I thought that a big two-stroke would be nice and the ZR 700 engine seems to have the required performance and still fit within my budget. (I will use a separate 6-speed gearbox.) And before buying an engine it would be really good to know if it fits in the frame. Not really fancy cutting the frame too much if it shows that the engine is a tad too big. So, it would be really appreciated if someone could help me with these measurements!

Sorry, I can't help you with the dimensions, but this sounds like a fun project. I remember seeing something a few years ago about a guy who built a custom frame and used a 670 Rotax engine. He had the engine mounted with the plugs facing down and used a CVT clutch / transmission system. It may take some experimenting to get gearing and final drive ratios to work with well with the power band of a snowmobile engine, especially when you have to fabricate an exhaust, but that would be half the fun. I hope you keep us informed as you go.

Should be a nice ride Light, powerful and small. Good combination The bike with the engine upside down, is it this one? http://www.eurospares.com/wildbik1.jpg
It has a CVT trans as you wrote. I'm using a separate gearbox that I'm putting together using Honda CBR1000RR transmission parts and a few bits I make myself.
There is quite much to do in this build as the bike will be road registered, but it's as fun building as it is riding
I can start a build-thread later on if here's some interest of it. Just need to get some measurements so I can see if the engine fits...

Yeah, that pic looks like what I remember seeing. Good luck with the project.
