Default 05 yamaha rage ( no spark)

i had bought a rage last winter that had a rod throught he block. sense then i have bought another motor that came complete, the motor was the same other than the oil return line that comes off the breather down to the stator cover. i had changed this cover and i kept th stator with the motor. i started it and i had to keep the choke full and it ran like crap. so i cleaned the carbs drained all the gas ,restarted and now it would run with the choke off but couldnt touch the throttle or it would stall. so i checked the the fuel pump and made sure i had enough gas and it did . i pulled the plugs and the stator side was black the other 2 were still like new ! so the i tried to restart and it started to pop and back fire so i pulled the plugs again to check for fire and now i have no spark at all. checked pick up coil with in spec, checked coil with in spec, now when i checked the stator spec is 0.22-0.26 mine is showing 0.4 . the old stator that was in the motor that was blown up tested the same. so i didnt think the stator was bad. any in put would greatly appreiciated.
