91 Arctic Cat Jag Mountain Cat Running Nicely
Cool well all that work paid off. I fired the sled up today and the engine is sounding awesome. Still needs some minor detailing on the cylinder head. Just need some snow now.
I still have to finish the hood job. Lots of sanding then paint it. And get some skins for the skags.
One small issue left. Maybe its nothin. I took out the oil injector it wasnt working anyways and mixing it in the tank. I mixed it lean right now and ran it today. Its still smokey. Would that be some old mix still left in the engine? It is getting better.
I am kinda a newbee and learning this on the fly. The engine is running bloody awesome and full power.

You should prolly have gotten ALL old fuel out of tank and carbs and lines,,everything!! and maybe even taken carbs off and cleaned em,, be very carefull when mixing oil and gas,, get it right, don't mix on the lean side, all 2 strokes smoke ( thats what some of us like) you need to have mixture right when your running sled hard, or on the "mains" to avoid burndown, How did you find the oil injection pump was not working?.... these imo never fail....

Very possible there was residual oil in the crankcase and is now burning off. Like HP said, 2-strokes smoke, and they smoke a lot more when cold. The smoke will usually e way less when the engine is up to operating temperature and it's working harder. It's way better to use a bit more oil and foul a plug now and then than not having enough oil to safely lubricate the engine, especially if you delete the oil pump.
