I tried clutching and re-tuning the carbs and it had the same results every time, no power until 6500 rpms.

My friend said we should try one more thing. We removed the -010 belt and put on a -020 belt (1/32 wider). The wider belt cured the problem. Now I take off and it pulls the skis the way it should.

But why did the wider belt solve the problem?

A wider belt sits the higher in the secondary clutch, in effect starting you off in a lower "gear".

I thought the only difference between the 10 and 20 belts was composition?

Its the same as taking a washer off the secondary and causing the sheaves to close up a bit and a higher belt height.Thats how I cured my bog .

Arcticcatzrt, the -010 and -012 were that way, the -010 was a harder compound than the -012. The -020 is a newer belt and was used on the newer ZR/ZL's.
