I'm just curious of how the media picks one murder case over another. Any given week there are many murder trials going on.
Case in point: There recently was a case in one state where a young boy killed his younger sister and it got quite a bit of media attention. About the same time, another young boy killed his younger sister in another state and it only got local media coverage.
The reason the trial ends up costing so much is due to media coverage. Lawyers get all the money and the longer they can drag something out the more money they get.
Trials still cost a lot, but the figures go up 100x when TV gets involved.
