2002 Pro X 600 questions

Hey guys my name is Wes I'm new to the forums and just had a couple questions regarding a 2002 Polaris Pro X 600 I picked up this week.

I bought the sled and it was sitting in a barn for about 2-3 years the person I got it from said he drained the old gas out of the sled and sprayed the carbs a little bit. So I got the sled home and replaced a few odds and ends for it to maintain it and poured 5 gallons of fresh premium in it. The sled seems to start fairly well, but at idle it likes to load up and almost seems as if it slightly misses and will occasionally sputter/backfire. until it gets up in the RPM range and then it seems to come to life after its warm of course, when cold its pretty doggy and didnt quite open up like it should. I havent had a lot of time to go through the sled as i work a lot. The bottom end power seems to be alittle short, like a wide open take off doesnt seem like it has as much pep as it should from a dead stop, but once its moving and you grab a handful it seems to respond as it should. Where should i start searching? I have added new gas and made sure the boots on the carbs were tight, it doesn't appear they're cracked or torn anywhere. Would power valves cause this sort of an issue on the bottom end power like that ? I always thought VES was more for high RPM power. I havent compression tested the cylinders, but it seems to scream in the mid range when its up in the RPM so i dont believe it's low on compression. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.
