2003/2004/2005 Various Models - Throttle Lever


CPSC, Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. Announce Recall of Snowmobiles



The following product safety recall was conducted voluntarily by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Customers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed.




Name of Product:
  • Ski-DooŽ 2003 Grand Touring 800 SDI SE; Legend 800 SDI SE
  • Ski-DooŽ 2004 Legend 600 HO SDI SE, SE GT, Sport and Sport GT; Legend 800 HO SDI SE and SE GT; MX Z X, Adrenaline and Renegade X; GSX Limited, Limited 1+1, Sport and Sport 1+1
  • Ski-DooŽ 2005 MX Z Renegade


Units: About 3,163



Manufacturer/Importer: Bombardier Inc. and Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP), Quebec, Canada.





Hazard: The throttle lever could become stuck leading to loss of speed control and possible collision.



Incidents/Injuries: BRP has received two reports alleging stuck throttles. No injuries have been reported.



Description: BRP snowmobiles come in black, blue, gray, white, yellow and autumn/black. Recalled models are listed below in this table:

Remedy: Owners of affected units will be notified directly. Consumers should contact an authorized Ski-Doo dealer to schedule an appointment for repair, free of charge.

my 2005 800 ho throttle stuck wide open last winter as well. heck of a feeling bouncing over moguls at wot when you don&#39;t expect it. a circlip rotated and caused the issue so sayith the dealer.

There is no date on the recall notice. After doing a bit of checking into a further, this recall is from October 1, 2004.

I had the throttle stick on my 2005 summit 800 ho Adrenaline in November of 2006. Possible cause moisture in the throttle cable, but I consiser that a vital part of the snowmobile that should work. No one got hurt but it went wide open across my yard and crashed. Called the dealership in Devils Lake, ND that had just serviced and I had just picked it up from the night before and they said I was on my own for compesation for the problem.
