I have the 580 motor in my prowler and have had no problems so far with that motor,,,, with the lack of snow, I would think you should be able to find a better deal though,,,,1800 seems kinda high to me

Crap I just had the weirdest experience. Just as I was reading you post and came to the "that doesn't sound good" the Nyquil comercial was on and that old lady said the exact same thing at the same time i read it :dazed: .
Anyways I dont have much to say but we had a 580 pantera out for a weekend and it worked pretty good. Had my brothers 98 zl 500 with it to and the 580 would keep up with it pretty good. Sled also handled and rode nice but it was a 97 and touring so different then the EXT.

I have a 580 ext/efi with about 4500 miles on it with no problems to date.

i have a 1996 ext 580 its a sweet machine. in my opinion they are very good sleds. im gonna mod mine this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
