The thing with the two stage is to adjust all the slack out of it.Most sleds come from the factory with almost the whole first stage wasted.I can run about 80-90 kmph on my sled on just the first stage. Also the single stage lever is more pointed and is even harder on the thumb because of the shape of it.

I have cut 7 coils off my 44's on my H.O. and it works great now...

I also agree in the progressive throttle.

There is an after market throttle control called a cruise mate i think. It mounts in conjunction with your throttle lever and adds another, so you can use your thumb to push the throttle like usual or pull the throttle with your other fingers and give your thumb abreak. Mounted one on my wifes mxz. works great.
I can get you more info if you want it.
good luck

I am really interested in the info. here as I had surgery to correct carpel tunnel on both my wrist's and this year I just had surgery to correct "trigger Finger" on my right thumb.. After reading all this I want to try the forward position on my sled.. The only bad thing I can imagine with it mounted forward would be trying to let off as you are being pulled off the sled when you are on the trigger.. At least on my Mach Z you are. I am going to try it with it pointing down quite a bit as I like to stand a lot when I ride.. Also the Kill switch will be upside down.. My Mach Z has the shortest throttle lever ever made, and its at such an angle that it kills my thumb, especially since it requires so little throttle to go fast so its always at a bad angle..

Cheers.

Cut coils off the springs in the carbs. Make sure you bend the cut end down slightly so the sharp edge does not cut into the carb top. I also cannot stand the two stage throttle. If you cruise at sixty or so, you are into the second stage which is worse than the single stage lever. Every sled I owned that came with two stage throttles were retrofit with a single stage. Cut the coils and be done with it. Be glad she is not riding a 95 Mach 1 with the dual 44's. That was a killer on the old thumb.
