06 Renegade Handle Bar Grip Replacement

I damaged the handle bar grip on my 06 Renegade. Has anybody replaced these grips? I have the new one but it isn't obvious to me how it goes on other than just forcing it. I didn't want to force it and have it stop half way on. Any help would be appreciated.

Here you go...from the 2005 shop manual. I've used a hair dryer to warm them up before removing and installing.
