Hello. I just got this nice very clean Olympic 340. I have cleaned the carb, replace points and condenser, check the timing, dead on timing mark. It start at first pull, idle good, good acceleration. The problem is that won't go fast, it accelerate quick to about 35 mph, and stay there. clutch seems to working ok. The tach read only 6000 rpm at full throttle. What rpm this engine should go? 7000-7500 rpm? If I raise the rear of the sled and accelerate, the engine will pull to 6000 rpm until clutch are fully shifted then rev to +8000 rpm easy. It's like if the shifting rpm is wrong. I know nothing about these old clutch. Any info for tuning it would be appreciated. Thank you

I think they only go about 40 mph,,
change the belt and clutch springs, clean the clutches.
make sure the track isn't too tight and no boggie wheels are seized.
