hi. i am looking at a 80 sd blizzard. it is a 470 cc?..i was just wondering how these machines were back in the day. any known,obvious problems i should be aware about...i just sold my 83 yam ss440 and am looking for some older iron...the blizzard has 400 orig miles on it, i have not seen it yet but he says its been garaged its whole life and is the orig owner.how much horsepower did these have/ how fast on a lake??/.........

Way back in 1980, ski-doo made 3 models of the Blizzard. The 5500, which had a 500cc fan cooled engine. The 7500, it had a 340cc liquid cooled twin, and a 9500 which packed a 440cc liquid. If that sled has a 470, it obviously doesn't have the original engine. A transplanted 470 is probably faster than a 340, but won't run with the 440. The 470 is a single pipe engine whereas all the '80 BLIZZARDS except the 500 Fan were twin pipes.

i got an 82, the only real problem with it is that it will flood real easy. its best to get one of the valves and it will save you a lot of pullin.
