Hi all,, my sons 1987 indy last year at the end of the season the speedometer quit,,today I took it all apart the cable is fine ,,the speedometer works with a cordless drill,,,I even had the peace that hooks up to the main drive shaft,,it all looks ok,,I dont know ,,any suggestions,,thankyou

Normally, the first place to look is at the "key" connecting the angle drive and the drive shaft. That part is around 2" long and has a shear point in the mid-section to allow it to break in case a more expensive part binds. If you have that part but it's shorter than that, then it probably sheared. If it is the right length, then there are two other thoughts; either the angle drive is faulty or the key insert has stripped, a remotely possible problem. Check those things and see if you find the problem.
