I am hoping someone can provide me with the torque specs for the headbolts and jugs on my 1995 Arctic Cat Cougar 550 L/C.

Motor is all rebuilt and just waiting to be torqued down. Can anyone provide me with the proper toque specs for the magneto bolts ,the jugs and the heads.

Help please.....it is snowing out now and my motor is on my kitchen table(the wife is not pleased LOL)

Thanks

I'll give you what the Clymer manual specifies. Note I only trust Clymer specs as a last resort so if somebody can get the info direct from AC I would highly encourage you to go with that.

Crankcase bolts (550cc):
6mm: 8-12 Nm / 6-9 ft-lb
8mm: 18-28 Nm / 13-20 ft-lb

Cylinder head:
550 and 580cc: 18-28Nm / 13-20 ft-lb

Cylinder base screws or nuts:
Cougar 1995-1998: 40-60Nm / 29-43 ft-lb

And here the wackiness ensues, because the only torque listing for magneto is the "Magneto housing for three cylinder 594cc engine: 18-22Nm / 13-16 ft-lb"

Hope that helps.

The numbers that Beaxch gave you are right on. Add to that:
Thermostat housing cap screws- 5-7 ft. lbs.
Starter pulley- 5-7 ft. lbs.
Flywheel nut- 50.5 to 65 ft. lbs.

I took the numbers from the 1995 AC Cougar/Prowler service manual.
