First off these sled are rockets, but make sure the oil pump is set right or you will use alot of oil and turn the fuel mixture screws(the little thumb screws on the sides of the carbs) out 1/8 to 1/4 turn as they were a bit lean at part throttle,it will also excellerate faster with this setting, depending on rider weight go to the nexr heavier clutch weights and a progressive angle helix.
As far as the ride,if you like to ride hard I would get the pps shock in the back out fitted with either the stage 2 or stage 3 kit as the shock will blow through the bypass area of the shock too fast and bottom out severly the way it is from the factory.
Also install a set of v force reeds and a light weight can from psi(it is not too loud when you are on the throttle but has a deeper sound at idle)
If your dealer doesnot have the updated oilpump setting proceedure,I can walk you through it.
I have seen thes sled give 600s fits even on the lakes where top end counts.
Also is tis a 2000 or a 2002 as my specs are for the 2000
I'am looking to perhaps purchase the 500xcsp. I would like a smooth ride yet sporty, can this machine give this to me??? I will be riding with a mxz 600, will I be able to easily keep up with him, on the flat trails and the mountain trails? How about on the lake, will he be waiting for me at the other end??? How's the handeling? Is this a dependable machine? I'm looking for the best value, and I don't want to buy a 600cc because of price, think this 500cc is good enough for me???Thanks for replys!
Hey there, I'm from Canada where theres plenty of the white stuff. Last year I bought a 2002 edge XC SP. I love this sled it rips, light and fun. I put a lightweight canister on it and it screams. All my bodies can't beleive how this sled rips. I can get mine over 100 mph no problem. I'm about 6'2 160 pounds. This sled handles verry nice. Whene you hit jumps you barely feel them when you land. I had a 2000 mxz 600 and I tell you im pretty sure thiss 500 xc will beat it all the way through the powerband. You'll love this sled, the only time you might wish for a little more power is whene you are riding in the deep powder. This thing is rated at 105 horsepower, just think the 1998-99 arctic cat zr limited editions were only 96 horsepower and that year they were eating up on the lake. Its a quick polaris.
