I keep hearing different things from different people. Some people say there dealer is telling them polaris is offering the 800 dragon in a trail sled only during sno-check, some are saying that select dealers will get them, others are saying that they are not in production at all for the 08 season in the shorter track.

Anyone hear anything?? Whats the story??

i dont know for sure put i have seen a picture of a 800 dragon short track so they have made them. i guess we'll see here in a few weeks. i wish i could get my hands on that engine in a dragon switchback though
This is still a rumor, but I've heard a couple places that dealers will be able to get 1 or 2 "demo" 121 inch IQ 800 sleds next year, maybe like the nuclear sunset orange IQ 600's last year. Right now the only 800 available is the RMK 800. Your dealer should be back soon from the meeting, so ask them this weekend.

if you read the snowcheck restrictions it will tell you a few sleds are excluded from the program and one is a 800iq wich tells me it will be available from your dealers stock order

here is the thing to go with that

That's like, paying cash for a new car, and not getting it until next year. I think I'd wait... when one month after you actually get it, anyone can get one.
I call BS

Like I said it might be in Jan 08

and it would be like a kick in the teeth to the ones buying a Dragon 700 this year

Why do you say that? You can't buy a sled and expect nothing better or bigger to come out ever again.
The kick in the teeth to me was the Dragon Switchback, as that's the sled I would've really wanted. But even there, it's not that big a deal. I was already toying with the idea of long-tracking it for next year anyway.

No matter what they could've came out with for 08, I've had a wonderful winter aboard the 700.

Perhaps I've misinterpreted what was said... I took it as "why pay for a sled that you'll get in December, when it's readily available in January". I might have missed something though.

There's nothing wrong with the Dragon 700. (Actually, I do like the dragon graphics... makes me bite my tongue for saying I don't like Polaris current look, lol. It's still no Fusion though.) :D
I certainly hope they do produce the 800 in either the 121 or switcher. I may have to decide on monday if I'm going to order one for next season. That 136 coupled switch sounds like the perfect choice for me. The new 8 may not have the grunt of the 9 but it sure sounds like a sweet engine.

I wonder what kinda vibrations will/will not be present???

No more vibes than any "regular" engine as the 8 will be an "upright" engine with piston travel closer to perpendicular to belt pull than the 900. Certainly a much better balanced rotating assembly as well. The motor mounting will be a conventional under-the-engine strap with rubber mounts unlike the what-the-hell-is-this mount of the 900.

LoL. I can't wait to size them up myself, then :)
Point is there is NO 800 flatlander sled for 08

wait till Jan 08 for a limited build
so what in jan 08 they are gonna make 800 short tracks?
yes there is a 800 121 for 08. but it is only a dealer demo. dealers are getting 1 or 2 depending on the sales program they are on. and yes if your dealer wants to sell one he can. i allready got a price on one. it is meant to be just a demo for 08 so peoplw will be interested for 09( so people can ride it before 09 snowcheck). no full production till 09!!!!! the limited build will not be delivered till the end of dec or beggining of january.
Delivery of 08 800 121 will be closer to
end of Jan last to go into production and
to let mountain boys work out any bugs.
