A little far from here, but I defintely know that they have a new model called "Shift".

Anyone else heard of this ?
the shift is the little thing levi one of the racers can up with, it like a snow scooter, pretty cool. for the top of the list of cool new stuff. 800 small block 155HP range, 1000 2 stoke and 1000 cc+ turbo 4 stroke with more power then the yamaha a lot more power. dragon package in 600,700,800 models. a iq 600 race chassis kind like the proxr was for 04, and lot of other models. the new 800 dragon RMK is going to be the mountain sled for next year. ive seen it, its insane
Whats your source?? I stopped my polaris dealer today and he had an '08 brochure with new sleds. None of these sleds with exception of the mountain sled were in there. No 1000's. Im not saying your wrong but I did not see any of this. They are not even making the 800 dragon in a short track, only a mountain model is what i saw.
there was the a iq racer 600 in it. also that shift didnt look like no scooter to me looks like a light weight iq dragon in stealth. my dealer said he heard something about a 1000cc mean machine too but some how I think it wasnt ready for snow check review. I can see it coming out as a late model.
I think they have a good line up this year but, they should of put that new 800 in a trail sled and/or in the racer. that would of been sick enough for me to maybe get off my wallet.
now im looking forward for the 09's. !!
When they first came out with the current 800 VES engine, it spent it's first year in the RMK also. It's a test bed to make sure they don't get too many of them out there and then have something get sideways on them. Too bad it doesn't alway work - look at the crank and VES valve issues that went undetected.....
i say the 800 in a short track dragon then i looked in the new brochure. the new 1000 engines i geuss just arnt ready yet, i was talking to mark blackweel today, they dont want another 900 fusion like problem. better to wait and not pay the price
So if the VP of Polaris told you they aren't going to have all these other sleds, who told you they were?
i had talked to mark a while ago and he said they were trying to get them ready for the 08 season, well some they just didnt get perfected and they didnt want another 900 fusion like problem. better to be a year later then end in problems and recalls

I've heard the same. 800 with 155hp.
they made a Dragon RMK 154HP 800CFI, four stoke 120HP Dragon Turbo, Switchback Dragon 700,600, 120HP IQ shift 600, pics on there website
the four stroke turbo has 140hp. just correcting you before somebody puts it down.
i still think that wilthout the huge engine they will so very well this year. as i said they are not really yet. dont want to have another 900 fusion. i think the shift is going to be a hot sled. i may get lots of people to upgrade because of the sled for the price. im really happy about 136 switchbacks and dragon packages in every catagory. im thinking a dragon stitchbackk 700 is the sled for me. get a used one after this next season. i really think the 800 is going to kill though. skidoo was all happy with the 800R and polaris comes along and makes something even better then that. 154 ponies can really make a guy happy.
Yeah, the darn 800 now has more hp than the 866 (er... 900). Oh well. Perhaps I still get better fuel economy??? lol.
im just thinking of what kind of big bores there is gonna be built with that new 800. Htg right now is in the making of a 200hp+ 830 based of the 700 clean fire. not that it matters but its always cool to have a rad mod.
i thought my 660 put out alot. how 200 ponies out of a 830 thats insane. im thinking the 800 bored to 1000 and twin pipes, porting adn the whole deal it would be over 220 HP. that would be one hell of a mountain sled. watch out turbo yamahas here some good old 2 strokes

Using the same hp to cc ratio, you should be able to get 159hp out of your 660 in comparison to the possibility of 200 out of a 830... so it's not as far fetched as it originally sounds. Think about it, if the 500 stock puts out 100hp, the 600 stock puts out 120hp, and the 700 stock puts out 140hp, then the 800 stock should put out 160hp before any mods. Why isn't it already at that point to begin with???

With the right mods, my 900 (866cc) could realistically see 173.2 hp. BUT it seems Polaris concentrated on fuel economy instead of hp, so it has less hp per cc than the 500, but better fuel economy per cc, for example.
really there is to many fators to make engines going up like that. once you reach a point a curve will be created and no long a strait line hp gain per cc. also techs on engines get more and more sufficitcated. just look at a 600 ves to and clean fire HO. they have the same bore but a cleanfire HO buts out 10 HP more. enginges are just far to complex to make this assumsion, an expamle, a 5.3L 327 vortec engine puts out more HP then a 5.7L 350. according to cc that chouldnt be right but it is. bore, stock, fuel delivery, exsaust, back pressure, compresion, fuel octane used, intake, etc. they all make an engine perform how it does, it just is what you can change to make something better.
did anyone else see the 08s on the site and just about [email protected] themselves, cuz i did haha, i had to go change before i could look again, these things are SO beautiful i couldnt believe it, that 600RR is looking like my sled for next season
I must be getting old. I was disappointed in how little useful stuff they build anymore - or anyone else for that matter. It's starting to look like us "old fogies" are supposed to be satisfied with little tiny fans. Pol has the 340 Transport, AC the 370 Panther, hmm?

Actually, the Transport looks like it'd be a pretty nice rig for utility use if it had around 50 horses instead of a measly 36. Of course that little 340 is about the most bullet-proof engine Polaris has even built. And amazingly, they've made few changes to something that has worked well. That, of course, means you can get parts for it cheaper than the bigger machines. (While most cranks cost nearly $1000 to replace, the 340 can be gotten factory new for less than half of that - not that you'd likely have to. The low HP plant isn't very hard on its internals.)
