600 Sdi Vs. 500ss

I hear that the fuel economy between the 600sdi and the 500ss are close. How about overall performance? Also in terms of reliability the 600 sdi with all extra electronics vs. the simpler 500ss, I would tend lean towards the 500SS. Looking for your opinions.

I have got to tell you one thing, my dad had a 600 S.D.I. last year and sold it to get a renegade p-tek, and I also got a 2006 500ss Adrenaline. I just love the snappy power of the sled, and last weekend, I got it up to 102. This is just a fanastic sled and I would not want anything else!!
I love my 600 sdi. I'd never buy anything less and I won't look at an 800 until doo sorts out the issues - so many blow up before 5000 km. I was thinking of an 800 rev xp. The 800s have more power....mmmm more speed and power....but carbs and more money for gas.
unless you don't care about $$$$ get the 500ss same mileage if not better. Great performance and a big savings in the wallet!!!
I don't know where you guys are getting figures that say the 500SS is getting better mileage than the 600 SDI.

I had a '01 MXZ600 that would get around 16 mpg (Canadian). My '04 600 SDI (in a ZX chassis) gets 21 to 23 mpg, as does RevIAm's '04 GSX 600SDI. My sister in law w/ her '04 Legend 500SS gets around 16 mpg.

If the 600SDI you're comparing to can't get that kind of mileage, something must be wrong w/ it.

I also had a 99 MXZ 600 and a 02 Legend 600 and both sleds were in the 11-14mpg range. That said I don't know what BRP did to the 500SS series but my 06 model consistantly returns very close to the 20mpg mark, ridden responsibly on the trails.
we rode 40 miles i have a 600 sdi and he had a 2002 600 with dpm i put in almost three dollars less than him as for performance he would pull on me sometimes and i would pull on him sometimes i did have a slight advantage on top end
I have an 05 SDI...and regularly get 180 miles from a tank riding fairly hard, most I have ever seen when taking it easy was 200 miles. I have never seen a 500SS or a 600HO or regular 600 get anywhere close to that, the most I have ever seen one of them get was around 120 miles and then looking for gas.
I get a MINIMUM 20mpg on my 04 Renegade, with a 136x1.75 track

I've stretched it to 25mpg(244 on one tank)
i have an 06 800 renegade and my wife rides an 06 600 sdi renegade.
we are very close when we fill up the tanks and I get only about 12 to 13 mpg. the 600 sdi only gets about 14-15 mpg. i see these posts for 20 mpg, but I never see that.
