96' 700 wildcat touring

Any help would be appreciated.Is there anything i can do to get more suspension travel or a better ride on my 700 wildcat touring.I put a gas shock on the rear.I see another set of holes below the holes where the front of the suspension bolts to the tunnel,can i use these to bring the front down this is where it seems to bottom out the most.The front of the tunnel seems to hit more than it should is there any way i can get more ground clearance in this area of the sled.I weigh 230 and my wife is 135 this should not be to much it.
