can anyone tell me the good and the bad of a 96 xcr 600sp? (aggressive body style with triple pipes) I just bought one for 1300 bucks, in good condition with 3000 miles on it. i know there were issues with this sled but i felt it was too good of a deal to pass up. how should it be geared and clutched? thanx for any input you may have! Ride, I have this sled as well as a couple others(Doos) This sled is [email protected]#$% heavy! Do not get stuck or expect to see a back specialist. Actually, I like the sled. It often has been labeled as a troublesome sled, but I have 4,500 on it and its been only oil and gas. Here is what I have done. Jet way down. I ride at 1000-3000 ft and the mains from factory are ridiculous. If you are at sea level, drop three sizes and check plugs after a good run. I also dropped pilots down two sizes and the needle one slot. The sled will wake up from its stock sluggishness off idle to midrange. Put ski skins on with good carbides. Get a decent clutch kit while you are rebuilding yours...Hot Seat or EPI. Have the fox shocks recharged every year or two depending on how you ride. Good trail ripping sled;not a ditch banger! This sled is awesome when it gets on the pipe. Triples are a blast when they are revving. Have fun and keep the track down!
