Just wondering how much oil I should use? mine is using 2 litres for every 60 miles which I know is way to much but It is adjusted to the proper settings so now I am lost. I've read some of the posts about the mach z having bad oil galleys in the bottom end and feel that the oil is alot cheeper than a new crank I've also read that I should not play with the needles or anything else in the flat side carbs because they are finicky But soneone said he changed the pilots and stoped the smoking all together so any Ideas guys whould really help

I think i remember hearing about the oil pump arm sticking or not returning  properly on the 98s.

On the 98 Mach Z there is a recall on the oil pump.  When you hit the throttle the oil is pumped normal but, when you let of the throttle or are at idle the oil pump is still open it does not return to proper setting so it just dumps in oil.  Iv heard of people installing a spring on the oil pump to return it properly.  You can still have the recall done.  If you diddnt buy the sled new,  call skidoo they can tell you of all the recalls that have been done to the sled.  Hope this helps.

Thanks guys ! accually I did notice that the oil pump arm sometimes did not return fully and that it has a sticky spot in it at about 1/4 - 1/2 throttle.  I will phone my dealer to see if it was ever done (thanks again)
