Looking for a Decent 2-up machine, and have a chance to get a 98 touring 700 with 2000 miles E-start & rev for around $3800.00
Are there any Known problems

My first concern is reliablity !
                                       Thanks for any Input.

There is nothing wrong with this machine it is a great buy.

Im pretty sure its a 700 triple.

Triples are smoother, use less gas, make more power and go faster.

All in all its a great combiniation and a sled that will out run and accellerate a lot of sleds on the trails.

All in all its a good buy.

I had a '97 Mach 1 700 and LOVED it. A freind has the '97 Grand Touring and other than replacing the shock once no problems and he uses it LOTS! How much milage on the one you are looking at? Does it have air ride on the rear? There really wasn't much went wrong with those units. I Beleive in '98 they were rated top of the class. Go the Ski-Doo website and under sleds you can scroll back a few years and you'll see a new one there.

Check and see if the recall work has been done to it. I
think it was the voltage regulator, hair line cracks on the
clutch sheave and oil pump adjustment. I had some issues
with my 98 700 triple motor but others have not so it kind
of depends on how it was taken care of and if it was
properly summerized. The PTO crank bearing was a problem on
some of these motors.

I think you have a great sled.  I'm running a 98 formula 111 with exactly the same engine.  I've got 4000 miles on it.  The only problems I've had are with the stator and CDI box.  As far as bearings on the crank just about everyone and their dog says the bottom end is going to explode due to bad bearings but I have yet to meet anyone who has had that experience.  One fellow I know has 12,000 miles on his sled which is the same as yours.  Always let it warm up before riding and add premix oil to the gas when it gets really cold out.

Use a high quality synthetic oil like amsoil injector and you probably wont have any bearing problems.

Its the crappy doo oil that causes half the problems from cranks to stuck valves.  All almost non issues with amsoil or castrol synthetics..
