Are there any major problems with the 98 zr 600?

Reliability is up in the wind, some were good and some were bad. There was a piston recall/update on them when they first came out. Besides that and they are very thirsty for their go-fluids (gas) they are a very good machine. Great handling and decent power.
My 98 ZR 600 EFI has been a fantastic sled! I have heard that other people had some problems, but not once have I in 5000 miles! Knock on wood! It is a little rocket if you add the D&D pipe/chip combo. Usually you can find a used pipe/chip combo relatively cheap as there are lots out there. If you do, make sure the chip is the right one for your sled, there were three. I also had the local dealer set up the clutch and it works very well. Love that sled. Will never get rid of it. Mine is the LE with the balck hood and it looks great......matches my new 800 EFI CC which was delivered today!! WOO HOO!!! I say go for it if it's in good condition. You will not be disappointed. It's light, fast and a lot of fun!

If you ahve any other questions let me know and I will try to help you out.

I have one, hear lots of issues with stators and cranks - mine is still running strong at 4500/4800 miles.

I put a black magic twin pipe and chip on it and this really helped the mid range, top end and fuel mileage significantly. Will run right with my brother in laws 2001 Edge x 600 and I can pull him on the top end consistently. Fuel mileage is usually within 1/2 a gallon of his 600 and another friends Polaris 600, riding trails, wide open on lakes or in the mountains. I put a deep lug track on when I go out west.

Front shock mount needs to have the updated hardware or you end up breaking the mount or egging out the rails and shock.
Hey guys! I finally deiced to sell my old 95 EXT 580. I found a good ZR 600 LE 1998 (so the dealer says) or a Powder Special 600 Efi 1999. 3,999.00 CAN (either one) I was wondering which would be the better sled? I’m only 16 so I do almost anything with my sled :D . Also is EFI a good thing to have in these years. Comment are appreciated. thanks

I know this is a shot in the dark since this post was so long ago. Anyway where could I find the D&D pipe and what brand chip are you talking about?
Not going to find them new. Used only and I'd check all the snowmobile pages you can post on IMO. HCS comes to mind.
