Discussion Starter #1
Looking at a non-current(07) MXZ Adrenaline 500SS. I would prefer it to come with factory electric start but I realize I may have to ad the electric start on to a manual start sled if that's all I can find.

My question is, does anyone know if you have to use a key when the electric start is put on after production? Or is the kit wired in such a way that you use your RER button?

Pretty sure it will use the key. The RER button will go to the ECU to retard the timing and reverse the direction the engine is rotating, the key will go to a solenoid that will allow current to go from the battery to the starter.

Plugs into the RER button and on MPEM equipped sleds requires an updated to the calibration.

Yea, what Thumbdoctor said.
I just added it to my 07 800.
There's a plug in module that you exchange with 1 plugged into your current wiring harness under the console behind your headlights. That allows your RER button to become both a starter and RER button.
It takes a couple of hours to install.
More if you're picky like me.

When you pick up the kit, make sure they shipped the ring gear and ring gear bolts with it.
They didn't with mine and the ring gears were back ordered until last Thursday.
I picked it up on Saturday only to find they never ordered the bolts so now I'm still waiting.

Make sure you torque the bolts according to spec.
I snapped one for the starter.

Simon, my instructions never mentioned having the MPEM reprogrammed.
The starter functions fine. I haven't put the primeary clutch back on yet due to the ring gear problems so I haven't started the motor at all to try the RER function.
So will I have to take it in to have the MPEM reprogrammed?

Thanks

Jeff

Only Summit 800R and some models with 6 connection MEPEM need a reflash. The lion's share came already equipped with E start.

Whew! Thanks Simon.

If I can hijack this thread for a minute.
Sorry 30Cal4me.

On Cody's MPEM, there's 5 connector ports on it.
We can only find 4 plugs as per the diagram in the shop manual.
Are we missing a plug or is one supposed to be left uncovered?
If so, I'd like to drown it in dielectric grease and seal it off from the dust and other elements.

Thanks.

That is a carry over for E-RAVE... don't worry about it. The cavity is water tight and you'll never need the terminals inside.

Interesting note - my '08 came with the ring gear installed even though I didn't get e-start. I know they were doing that to help with the vibration on the 800r (harmonic damping) but hadn't heard they were doing it with the 600 sdi as well.
