Broken wire from the lighting coil? You're obviously generating power for the igniton, so you should go to the stator output and see if power is getting to all the connectors. Follow the wires and see where the power stops.
had same thing happen on my 94 580 like 4 years ago the ignition and accessory coils on stator are seperate and th lighting coil actually comes off stator plate make sure there is no power out off plug first but i would not doubt the coil is burnt out if it is then you have to remove pullstart assembly and fywheel, probably need puller, and then most likely the stator plate needs to come out but if u take out stator plate mark the screw locations because it is adjustable.
check for broke wire like the other guy said to first
