I've got a '79 Panther 5000.  To align the clutch, I need a "special " tool - an official bar that fits between the primary and secondary and from which measurements are taken from.  What I need to know is "what is the thickness of that bar?"  Does anyone have one, or know how to align the clutch without one.  Its a small thing, but the right measurements seem kind of important.  Thanks for any help you can give me?

It is not the thickness of the bar. It is actually a tool that is specially made to fit each model to properly align the clutches. I would recommend going to your local dealer.
