Clutch Bolt

Hello I just got a comet clutch for my bro's sled. Well the new bolt that came with it is half an inch to long. I was wonderin if its alright to use the factory bolt. It dosn't go inside the shaft like the bolt that came with the clutch. I have the factory bolt in there right now but i want to know it will be ok to go for a long ride with. Seems to work fine around the yard.
