Fast Idle On 2004 Renegade 600 Sdi

Anyone ever have a problem with fast idling after stopping from a run? It seems to happen more when driving faster then slower. It will idle around 4200 rpm's which is enough to engage the track and can take a minute or so to come back to normal idle speed. When turned off and restarted it will idle at normal rpm's again. I had it checked at the dealer and nothing was found except lose exhaust gaskets which were retighten. It was plugged into the computer with no faults or downloads shown. Is it possible the throttle position sensor is not working proberly but doesn't show any faults when checked? Would an air leak cause this to happen and if it did why would it only happen at higher speeds and not all the time. Wouldn't the engine have leaned out by now? Thanks for any help. My e-mail address is [email protected]

Sounds like this a common problem. I have an 800 that does this all the time when I come to a stop. I don't remember it doing this before. I asked about this & alot of guys are having the same problem. I know with the SDI you can't do this but if you have a coke then flip it to the 1st notch for a second & your rpm will drop down to under 2000.
I had the exact same problem with my Legend 600 SDI.
The dealer flashed the computer with the latest version and it's all good now!

Thanks mr. niftie
I had all the latest updates done and when it was rechecked no new updates were available. Compared to my wife's 600 SDI they both work equally except mine continues to idle high.
I could be wrong but this sounds like a lean pilot system if not sucking air from boots or leaks in other places.

Thanks.
I'm kinda thinking sucking air too but why only at certain times and usually after cruising
higher speeds. We checked the boots and they are fine.
Thanks.

there is more than just the boots that can leak air on your motor like crank seals ,exhaust flanges , rave boots ... not likely on an 04 but worth a look . M

I'm going to replace the exhaust gaskets and rave valve gaskets today and see if that works.
