A friend of some one in the group I ride with has a 2001 800 xc polaris. He has been getting pretty cocky lately in bench racing. I dont know what he has up his sleeves but he has new digitron gauges and talking alot of trash. He wants to race my mach Z on hard pack 600-800ft. He says that he still has stock gearing. I have 98 Z thicker base gasket cut head and the usual clutch set up. I also instaled a new .750 lug track and new studs this year. The new track and stud combo should be around 4lbs lighter and plus this track is a full metal clip track so I am hoping the sled will have better top end pull. What do you guys think even if his sled is ported and lots of mods How do ya think I will stack up. I have not heard a lot about polaris 800 twins just a lot of talk about skidoo and cat.

In the short runs, 600, 800, etc., I'd be careful in a race, regardless of whether it was a triple or twin. It's all who gets the holeshot and has the torque to pull faster to 80-100 MPH. This isn't a top end thing.

Any good Mach Z 99 or newer, will leave it in the dust. Providing it can hook up. remember, the Mach just has a lot more motor than that twin. The secret is to get it to hook up. With my fat butt on my 99 I have pretty much beaten most of the sleds. BUT, if you go up against another good tuner, then its real racing. You just never know who you will meet up with..........

We will find out the first weekend if febuary. It looks like that will be the first run in with the trash talker. I am pretty confident that I will beat him. My sled is freshly studded this year and have not rode it yet so should hook pretty well. Trash talker has arround 1500-1800 miles on his studs so we will see. My friends and I usualy race 1000ft so I am making a exception in this race hopfully to shut him up. I am in on going talks about the length of the race trying to get it split half way beteen 600 and 1000ft so hopefully the race will be 800ft and I thing thats in the machs favor. Trash talker is the one running his mouth so I am letting him do the talking and hopefully he falls into my trap.

An XC700 with pipes and a aftermarket head...160hp?? LMFAO

I think not.     Probably closer to the 130hp mark.

I know a couple of guys in this area, one that works for the local doo dealer and races in the stock 440 grass drags, have the crankshop pipes on MXZ 700's that will kick a stock MachZ's butt in 1000'.   Be careful, the polaris 800 twin with pipes runs really well.  If it were me, I would try to run the race at least 1/4 mile, that way your on your pipes and hp.

a stock xc700 has 126 hp. pipes will give you 16 more a head will give you 8-10. reeds give you 5 more and then your boost bottle for an easy 5 more. that was all done by slp so add it up. polaris made 2 700 motors a 124 and a 126 hp

I'm sorry but you can subtract that 5hp from the boost bottle as that was a sales gimck to sell them al a boost bottle does is clean up the low end throttle response.Being a Polaris mech at a family owned dealership and from experience that is all the boost bottle will do as far as topend hp it doesn't do any thing put it on a dyno with it and with out it and see for your self. But the 02 700 xc is very fast and it will suprise even the 800 riders all the way to top end were the 800 is only slightly faster. So don't count it out.

JCJUHL I think maybe the people selling you parts are a little
high on there H.P  If your lucky maybe 140 hp but you would
have to be dialed in.!!!!
  700xc 126 hp
 pipes      8 hp
head        4 hp
boost bottle 0 hp
              140 HP if your lucky

Buyer be ware when buying peformance parts. When a company says 16 hp they are not talking about peak power. They generaly add up all gains across the power band and thats the 16 hp. So if he engine picks up 2 hp at 5000 and 2hp at 6000 and 2hp at 7000 etc I think you can get the picture. There are a lot of chip makers for cars that do the same thing. If I added all of the hp my friends honda civic has with 10 hp here and 20 hp here and 40 hp here he would have 400 hp from a normaly asparated 4 cyl no turbo or nitrous Thats a little unrealistic.
