Hello all, I am new around here. Been out of snowmobiling since 1989 and miss it dearly! So I am now getting back into it, but really don't like any of the newer stuff out there. So I guess "vintage" would be my preference.

Currently looking at a 1995(ish) Polaris Indy 440 liquid cooled. Going to take my first actual look at it today.
Any thoughts on that machine?

Thanks!
Yes, money pits indeed, but oh so much fun, when and IF we ever have good snow here in Wisconsin.
anyways, I am no longer a "former" owner of a sled. I picked up that 1995 (MFG date May of 1994) Polaris Indy 440. It looks great. Seat is pooched, and the engine needs some love, but for 400$US I don't think it is a bad deal. With what I paid for it, I can afford to stick a few hundred dollars into bringing it back to life and not feel bad about it.

Thanks! Was just out working on it. She's a runner! Dumped an eyedropper full of 40:1 premix in each cylinder and it popped right off. I was actually shocked that it ran on its own. I really didn't expect that, since I haven't touched the carbs yet. Even drove it around the yard a couple times without any issues
Yeah, that seat is the only really bad thing right now. I think it is beyond the point of Gorilla Tape.:D Going to just have to replace it. Otherwise once I go through the carbs, replace all the fuel and oil lines, it should be trail ready.

I've seen whole seats with duct tape on them. Nothing but duct tape. Go for it !
LOL! I thought about that, but went ahead and bought a new seat cover. Figured I would have that much invested in Gorilla tape anyway. Will be a good project for the off-season. ...among several projects I have planned for this sled.

That is hilarious though. A seat with nothing but duct tale for a cover. Gotta think that could get a bit sticky in warmer weather.🤔
