Just curious to see if anyone has played with the gearing on the new zr 800. I am lookin for more acceleration not top end. Anybody know what stock gearing is?Never played with gearing before, should i drop one tooth(top or bottom?)Any help would be appreciated

Try goin 1 tooth smaller on the top gear and if that is too much of a change go 1 tooth bigger on the bottom they will both have the same effect eccept that 1 tooth change on the top is about equal to a 2 to 3 tooth change on the bottom. This should help with excelleration but it could also give you more top speed as cat likes to over gear their sleds abit.

With the Black Magic kit you have do not gear down unless you are racing a short distance because you will run out of gear to soon. I had my BM kit and geared 21/37 and I had a good hole shot but it died at 80 mph and what I gained in hole shot I lost most of it not hooking up. If you want we can compare my new D&D kit to you BM ........If ya want to race that is.

What are you guys doing for traction??  I have mine geared 25/38 with a 1.25" track.  I also have a speedwerx pipe.  This setup seemed to pull much harder than stock 24/39.  I think it may work better because unless I'm on ice with picks I can't see how I could ever hook it up good enough to use the lower gearing in a 1320' race.  Good luck

Myself. Thats what I use for traction. I,m 300 pounds so I get a good launch out of the hole. If I were a lighter guy Iwould stud. I have the rear susp. setup to where she hooks pretty good. Thats with stock gearing though. Talked to mechanic at the dealer and he is running a 24/40 setup in his 800. He suggested that a 23/40 setup would work good for me due to the fact I am a heavier guy. All my snow is melting away now so I will have to wait to try anything
