Ok, I've had this older (79-80) Yamaha 340 for about a year. I was riding this winter and it ran great as always until I put it in the garage for about 2 weeks after my last ride. Nothing was wrong when I parked it so I was all suited up for my next ride, when she didnt start. No Spark. I checked quickly under the hood for loose connections, etc, but nothing. When I went to fix my problem the next day I checked everything, all the switches and such, but still no spark. Replaced the coil and CDI, still no spark. Took apart some wiring, and thought I had stumbled onto my problem, because it was BAD. I cant find a wiring harness so I bypassed all the wiring and have my CDI/coil wired directly to the engine. I was so happy to see spark after that. But the thing will still not start. The spark is not the best, but it should atleast start. I have no idea what else it could be? what stymies me worst is it was running awesome and then nothing? I bought a flywheel puller, could the stator go instantly like that? I dont really have any more money to keep buying parts i dont need, so any help would be greatly appreciated. happy sleding... btw, anyone interested in a 79 kawi drifter340?
