I was wandering if anybody knows how much horsepower a stock 1999 an '97 indy 500 have?

Is it a xc motor or the indy motor with no reeds? don't quote me on this but I think it is somewhere around 76.

Your basic stock piston port Indy 500 engine that was made from 1989 to the present puts out between 75-80 hp depending on the year. :D

these engines are so under tuned its pathetic, get your timing advanced at least 4 to6 degrees and rejet for the little extra heat you will generate. I did this on my 99rmk and am now able to pull 54gram weights, 2"x 136 long track, gear ratio is only 17/41. you wont believe the differance it makes. :D

My brother-in-law had a 91 indy 500 that he installed fox shocks a pipe and clutch and that thing really moved. At the time he rode it for 4 years and there were not to many guys who could beat him on the trails. He sold it and got a 96 xcr 440 which was even faster!!! Just goes to show you that it not the size but the set-up!!!
