How Much Hp Do You Think This Set-up Has?

Ok I have a mod 700 twin and was talking with a guy who has one of those new four strokes. He has a new Yamaha Apex 1000. He claims to have about 150hp.
I was wondering if you guys think I would be able to beat him.
My sled started out as a 98 rmk 700. I have put a big bore 754 kit on it. and put slp cheater heads with CPI twin pipes. Also running small mods like aftermarket air box, bored carbs and boost bottle.
You guys think I could beat him up a hill? or on the flats?

Thanks
Carl

Yep. Unless he also has mods, he's not getting a true 150hp. Your hp should match his, add the mods, ya might beat him. Don't quote me on that though.
It depends on other factors as well, like is his sled set up for mountain as well. i.e long track, gearing. And is yours clutched and geared for your mods. If his is the standard apex 121 he will take you on the flats hard pack. But you will take him up hill in powder. Most likely.
Hes running a 162 in track and I have a 151. Hes got a longer track but I figure that also means heavier. I hope we get a chance to duke this out. Should be a fun race
Thanks
Carl
I forgot about the track lengths, it still sounds pretty close to me. I'd like to know what the results are :) Go 2-stroke go!
i run a mod 660 dynoed at 148 HP. i killed an apex to about 85 ( that all the higher im geared to) i had about 8 sleds on him. then again i have the same power and hes on a sled that weights 560 pound and mine is under 450

Very good point. Unless you're both honestly running stock, it depends on who's done what to modify their sled. Without knowing, it could be anyone's game. The cc size means nothing if it's tweaked to win.

i race a 98 700xc and a guy here has a 1000 vector turbo putting out what he say's about 290hp the vector is dead off the line but at about three quarters down the 660 look out here he comes and gets me by 2 lenths if you are geared right you should beat him let me know i'am one of a few who race polaris the rest are yamaha and artic cats the turbo don't start making boost untill the engine winds up so you can see where you have the advantage just my thoughts
strait up HP will be worth nothing if you dont have good hookup and clutching. you can have 200 HP with bad clutching and get beat by a stock 600 with good clutching. most people dont realize just how important clutching is.
